Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024
They’re so back.
Look, nothing will beat the 2010’s VS runways. The blowouts, the wings, the Fantasy bra that broke the internet. It was iconic because it was ground-breaking, and fresh, and new. It’s not 2010 anymore. If we compared every fashion show to the one before, and complained that it wasn’t exactly the same, fashion would be obsolete. To be fashionable is to create new ideas that reflect society. That’s all I’ll say on this. Now let’s talk about the show.
First off, the show was completely women led! Sarah Sylvester and Janie Schaffer produced the show, and we were treated to a star studded all female performance group; Cher, Tyla and Lisa serenaded the models to girl-power-esque songs. Even the backup dancers were all girls!
The hair truly was hairing. I loved the nod to Gen Z clean girl with the slick backs contrasting with the ethereal untamed look of the backcombed or natural girlies. My only note is that the blow outs could have had a bit more life to them, as some looked a little flat.
As a shoe girl, you can bet I had my eye on the footwear. René Caovilla provided shoes for all of the angels, and they did not disappoint. Spiral shoes
The show paid wonderful homage to its predecessors, giving the people what they asked for whilst pushing originality. Fresh faces mixed with classics such as the ICONIC Adriana, Taylor, Jasmine and of course the Hadid’s (that’s right, BOTH of them). My Angel of the night had to be Imaan Hammam- she glowed.
Also did anyone else scream at the TV when Kate Moss rocked up?! Women of all ages, ethnicities and sizes catwalked; their common trait? All angelic, all VS worthy.
